Education Without Borders: WorldClassroom Builds Bridges in Indonesia

Between January and February 2025, the WorldClassroom Indonesia team conducted a nationwide school visit tour, focusing on deepening partnerships and promoting global learning opportunities from elementary to junior and high school levels. These efforts aim to enhance students’ English skills and create meaningful cross-cultural experiences , with a special emphasis on future opportunities to study abroad in Japan .

The journey began on January 20th at SMPN 3 Malang, hosted by Ms. Arie Susani. The following day, the team held a collaborative joint session at SMPN 7 Malang, where English teachers from various public junior high schools gathered to exchange ideas and best practices for global learning. The team also visited SMP Brawijaya Smart School, where Principal Arif welcomed WorldClassroom and shared insights into how private schools can further international collaboration and support students’ dreams of studying abroad in Japan.

In Madiun, SMAN 3 Taruna Angkasa received the team on January 22nd, led by Principal Agus and Mr. Muhadi. They discussed nurturing students’ global mindsets and preparing them for cross-cultural experiences through WorldClassroom programs.

Yogyakarta welcomed the team with strong support from both public and Islamic schools such as Mr. Heryan from Mualimin and Principal Unik with Mr. Setia from Mualimat Yogyakarta. Also Principal Joko from SMPN 3 Bantul that already joined earlier. These schools emphasized the importance of English education and international engagement at the junior and high school levels, helping students build the confidence needed to join future study abroad programs.

On January 30th, the team visited SMP Al Falah Assalam in Sidoarjo and met with Principal Ma’ruf and Ms. Zulfiah. Their shared vision included expanding students’ global exposure through interactive cross-cultural experiences, particularly for junior high school learners.

In Jakarta, a key highlight was the collaboration with Satlak Sudin East Jakarta, represented by Mr. Istadi and Mr. Nasrudin. On February 18th, they held a joint session with English teachers from across East Jakarta, supporting widespread English language engagement.

Earlier that month, the team also visited SDN Cipinang Besar Utara 08 (Principal Desi and Mr. Ayatullah), reinforcing the growing relevance of global learning even at the elementary school level. Through WorldClassroom, young learners are now being introduced to foundational skills that could eventually lead them to study abroad in Japan.

These visits demonstrate WorldClassroom’s mission to bring inclusive, impactful, and engaging cross-cultural experiences to Indonesian students from elementary to junior and high school. Through collaboration, language learning, and international connection, WorldClassroom is paving the way for students who dream of one day joining a study abroad in Japan program.
