Let’s dive into the diversity using educational technology!

Hello everyone!

This is the WorldClassroom Management Team of HelloWorld, Inc.

On February 29, 2024, an online international exchange class utilizing WorldClassroom was held at Nishihara Junior High School in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture. The participants were 20 students from Japan and 10 students from Turkey.

Online International Cultural Exchange Class

Motivating Curriculum Design for Students

Each WorldClassroom session begins with an ice-breaker activity to ease the students’ tension before the exchange begins.

On this day, a world trivia quiz was held and students answered “◯ (yes)” or “✕ (no)” using gestures. Students from both schools were surprised to learn facts about the world that they had never heard before.

By incorporating this kind of game element into the lesson design, students are not only able to share an atmosphere and a feeling that is difficult to communicate, but they are also more motivated to learn English.

The World Trivia Quiz was a great success!

Cross-cultural exchange and understanding that Origami brings

Utilizing the original Otasuke sheet provided by WorldClassroom, students asked their partners a variety of questions.

In one group, Origami came up as a topic of discussion, and when the Turkish students told them that they knew it, the Japanese students were very pleased and reacted loudly. Other groups had lively discussions about typical Japanese food and recommended places in Turkey.

The students were seen to be enjoying the conversation throughout the session, using pictures and gestures to effectively communicate with each other. They carefully listened back to the parts of the conversation that were difficult to understand and confirmed their questions.

Digital tools are the key to success in learning

Time passed quickly and the cultural exchange came to an end. After the representatives from both schools gave their thank-you speeches, everyone took a commemorative photo to remember the event. The smiles on the participants’ faces showed that they had spent a very meaningful time together!

The WorldClassroom classes allow students to connect with their international students from all over the world as if they were in the same classroom next door. This time, as in the other sessions, it was a wonderful international exchange with constant smiles on the faces of the participants. Students from both schools were able to overcome language barriers and communicate with new friends, and I am sure that their understanding of the world was deepened even further.

Using educational technology, World Classroom’s online international exchange program provides students with a variety of perspectives and experiences. These classes help students broaden their perspectives and develop a global perspective.
